I have been recording contemporary art of Venice Beach Ca. since 1964. In 1972 one would have seen a mere 10-15 people on the Boardwalk all Sunday. Today it’s a proverbial "circus by the sea." These recordings interpret the way I feel about the intervention between the photographic process and the confirmation of any of these given moments.

In my compilations clouds represent metaphors for life’s changing moods. As ethereal symbols they give rise to our imagination. They visually embody the most wondrous dominion on Earth. Profoundly they're the . . . “sheet music of the skies.”

My images are either documentary or conceptual in nature, or a combination of both. Art has many constructive purposes, but I feel its major functions are to instruct, thrill, and inspire.

My surreal images reveal the feelings of obscured subliminal wisdoms common to us all! As metaphors they aid in the search for personal truths and mythologies.

Documenting the three major boardwalks in the our United States . .
(Venice, Atlantic City and Coney Island) has opened the door for me to continue to record the remaining seaside amusement communities.

These images are selected from a collection of over 6,000 photographs stored in my archives.
